SEND

St. Mary’s is an inclusive Catholic Primary School. At St Mary’s, we believe that every pupil has an entitlement to develop their talents and skills, and strive for excellence in their learning, irrespective of any differences. Our team consists of a highly skilled team of teachers and teaching assistants who support the children in all areas of their development, providing advice and support where needed but also encouraging independence.

All children learn in a warm and nurturing environment that enables them to make good progress, achieve high standards academically and to develop and mature into young people who are ready to take their place in the world and achieve their full potential. Quality teaching is essential however, for some children there are occasions when further additional support may be needed to help them achieve and progress. We ensure that all children are given the help and support they need to learn. The help given will vary depending on the individual needs of each child. It may be support to develop academically, emotionally, socially or physically. Most of this support will happen naturally in the classroom environment and will be organised by the class teacher. We are an extremely approachable and positive team who will listen to your concerns and questions carefully – your knowledge in supporting your child is extremely important to us.

If you have any questions please make an appointment to see our school SENDCO, Mrs. Mel Caffrey via the school office.

“A pupil has SEND where their learning difficulty or disability calls for special educational provision, namely provision different from or additional to that normally available to pupils of the same age.” (SEND Code of Practice: P.82)

"How others see you is not important; how you see yourself means everything."
